There is strategy and there are tactics.
When using the Digital World you need to keep in mind what the objective is.
Unless you are online just for fun the typical main business objective is to find new contacts and leads and then turn them into prospects and eventually paying customers. Then to increase sales from those existing clients.
Marketing and PR people may offer other objectives but Sales is about tangible results.
Below is what is known as the Digital Sales Ecosystem which comprises of social media accounts, website/blogsite, email lists and sales platforms.
At the end of the day it is all about conversion to £$£$£$£$£$£$£$£$£$£$
There are 2 things that really matter….
How many opportunities you put in the top of the Sales Funnel and how well they convert into paying customers.
If you visualise the journey of new contacts it goes something like this ( there can be different routes and some people might come into the funnel further down.)
Some people from the Internet “ find you “ eg via social media or search ( say
1000 )Some of them go to your web/blogsite ( say 100 )
Some of them give you their name and email address ( say 10 )
Some of them decide to buy a product or service from you others buy later some don’t ever buy ( Say 1 buys )
The old Hubspot saying was
FIND
NURTURE
CONVERT
ANALYSE
You can therefore increase the number of buyers in one of 2 basic ways
Add more people into the top ( make 1000 become 10,000 )
Improve the conversion rate ( Of the 1000 - 200 go to website, 20 give you email, 4 give you money )
It is all about fine tuning each level until the system is really working.
However the most important thing is to understand what the system is and how it works.
